Course Overview: The iLit ELL platform provides students with a research-proven instructional model through a mobile instructional system accessible on their iPads or web browser. The program is engaging, accessible, and adaptable for teachers and students. The program is aligned to state standards, English Language Development (ELD) standards, and incorporates a Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) instructional model. The course focus is on: robust vocabulary, developing comprehension, phonemic awareness, spelling, reading fluency, writing, speaking, and listening. In addition, students will have access to a leveled library of over 1600 texts.
Student Expectations:
• Bring iPad, notebook, and writing utensil to class daily
• Complete homework assignments on time
• Actively engage in classroom activities
Evaluation: Student work is assessed according to the COSL standards at Viking Middle School and on the criteria below. Homework may be in the form of written assignments or review, generally 15-20 minutes.
